Actuator with cheap plastic gears predictably fails, but equally predictably only after the vehicle is out of warranty. It's bizarrely easy to disassemble and repair these if your can get the right $0.15 plastic gear, yet many of these are buried so deep in the dashboard that it takes hundreds upon hundreds of dollars worth of mechanic time to get at them, often with many other now-brittle plastic parts to carefully move out of the way, that the cost of a new OEM actuator is cheap by comparison. I'd never take the trouble to repair one of these, nor buy an after market part unless I knew it was engineered to outlast the OEM module, as these are likely available for about $40 or less from the manufacturer. I'd also look around to see if I'd uncovered any others in accessing the malfunctioning one, and ask the dealer parts department for the cost of new ones for all those I could now get at. Not a job I'd want to do more than once. Your time has value even if you're unemployed: you can always make more money, but you can never make more time. Compare this tech to the HVAC control systems in most cars from the 1980s and prior that were almost all mechanical, with metal gears, connectors and flex cables that easily lasted 50 years, and were cheap and easy to replace if ever they did break. These computer operated, cheaply manufactured electromechanical actuators are nothing but carefully engineered planned obsolescence.

I just did the entire procedure on my 20 year old Chevy and it turns out the power cable to the motor was unplugged. Cant understand how it came off by itself while I was driving, but it's proof that sometimes you just have to plug it in first in order for it to work 😂

With WD-40 you really should allow it a few minutes to soak in, so that it has time to penetrate the adhesive. If you had have done, it would have come off much easier and quicker.

Sometimes, a Charging System Malfunction error is not a result of bad battery or alternator. In fact, I had a Charging System Malfunction error with my 2016 Mazda CX-3 AWD vehicle,. The good news is that it wasn't a battery or alternator problem. It was a Serpentine Belt which cracked.

I've been dealing with this issue forever and talked to someone who said "there's only one blend door" and I thought -- that's weird, because that's not where the sound is coming from ... ... I just found your video, hahaha ... like, right now. And it's been months. Thank you!

Great video. Your videos make stuff look so easy on these cars and if they went that easy for me I'd be working on my car nearly every day but they are very helpful and well put together. I've had my LS1 Z28 for 20 years now and I'd like to keep it forever but it's becoming harder and harder to find mechanics who I can trust to work on it. Every time I take it somewhere if it doesn't take 2 or 3 visits to get it right they screw something else up which is almost just a given. Can't even get them to jack it up at the right spot even after I specifically tell them where to jack it. Thanks and subscribed.
